German linguistic communication Wehrmacht soldier amongst his Equus caballus on the Eastern Front, wintertime of 1941/42. The wintertime of 1941 produced the greatest crisis. Horse losses inwards Army Group Centre had reached near M per day. The criterion German linguistic communication infantry partitioning (1939 pattern) required anything from 4077 to 6033 horses to move. However, German linguistic communication divisions rarely had to a greater extent than than 150 horses inwards reserve. Moreover, German linguistic communication veterinarian hospitals, which could stimulate from 500 (divisional veterinarian company) to 550 (army hospital) horses, were swamped, ofttimes having to process 2-3000 horses at 1 time. Yet the Wehrmacht survived. Replacements as well as captured horses were sent to veterinarian collecting stations for medical examination. Horses no longer check for state of war machine service simply able to operate were evacuated as well as after sold to farmers. Those also weak to live evacuated were slaughtered for meat. Measures similar these enabled the regular army to endure, fifty-fifty though the Germans lost a full of 180,000 horses during the wintertime of 1941 alone!
